Successfully helping prospective parents conceive and receiving $8,000 in egg donation fees
Egg Donor: Lin Weiting (25 years old, first time donating eggs)
In 2022, despite the pandemic, I traveled to the United States to donate eggs through EggLove. To bring hope and happiness to couples unable to conceive, I made this important decision—donating eggs. Donating eggs wasn’t easy for me, but ultimately, it was worth it because my efforts helped create a happy family. In this blog, I will share my experiences and insights from the egg donation process to help others understand this life-saving journey.
1. Searching for an Egg Donation Center and Deciding on EggLove
During the egg donation process, I wanted to find a trustworthy egg donation center. I chose EggLove because they offered the fastest and most friendly service I’d ever received, and they were proactive in helping me with any questions. They provided a smooth egg donation screening process and pre-departure training, along with professional preparation. They also helped me find the right nutrition supplement for my egg donation cycle. After my initial screening, they determined my suitability as an egg donor within a week.
2. Prepare for the Tests
Becoming an egg donor requires several steps to prepare yourself. This includes researching and learning more about the egg donation process, as well as undergoing a physical examination and blood tests to determine if you meet the requirements. The egg donation process involves multiple blood draws and injections, which requires patience and strong willpower. These tests include AMH levels, a vaginal ultrasound on the third day of your period, and genetic testing, chromosomes, and tests for STDs, smoking, and medication. Once you’re all clear, you can book your flight to the United States!
3. The Egg Donation Process
The egg donation process took about two weeks and included an ovulation injection, an egg stimulation injection similar to a blood draw, and egg retrieval. Throughout the entire process, I maintained constant contact with the nurse and doctor to ensure everything went smoothly. During the egg stimulation and retrieval process, I felt a slight swelling in my abdomen, but drinking coconut water helped.
4. Successful Egg Donation
After the egg donation, the doctor gave me some instructions to ensure my body was fully recovered. My donated eggs were fertilized and implanted in the lab, resulting in a successful pregnancy! Knowing I had helped a couple realize their dream was truly heartening. A week later, I received an international wire transfer of $8,000 in nutrition funds from the United States, along with the previously paid airfare, transportation, and medical examination fees.
Sharing My Experience:
As an egg donor, I understand that this is a very important decision. I believe that by sharing my experience, I can help others better understand the process and significance of egg donation. Egg donation is more than just providing eggs; it’s about bringing new life to someone. Even if you don’t know the couple who are hoping for a child, you can be a kindhearted help to them. I believe everyone can become an egg donor and make the world a better place through their hard work.
